In addition to AVIATION and ALCOHOL - DRUG RELATED ACCIDENTS I have extensive experience in serious injury and death cases. Since 1972 I and my law firm have been lead counsel in such throughout Texas and other state and federal jurisdictions. A brief description of these cases follows:

Medical Negligence And Nursing Home Cases

Our firm represents families of patients who have been seriously injured or have died as the result of improper care by hospitals, nurses, physicians, and nursing homes. These include, for example, failures to diagnose cancer, mistreatment of elderly patients, and failure to provide appropriate care in emergency rooms. Dr. Jacqueline Kelly is both a medical doctor and practicing attorney, which gives us the ability to review charts, evaluate the course of treatment, and explain the issues to clients and referral attorneys very rapidly. Construction Accidents

Language barriers on the job all too often lead to tragedy. Because of my Spanish language skills and my long-term association with the Mexican consulates in Texas, we have been called on countless times to help families whose working men were killed by cranes, cables, utility tractors, electric lines, and excavations. Our work in trench cave-ins following the deaths of immigrant workers led to unprecedented criminal trials of corporations in Texas.

Motor Vehicle Accidents

How can a car or pickup inexplicably lose control? roll over? Explode? Pop open, allowing children to fall out of the car and into certain death or catastrophic injury? There are answers to these questions, answers which all too often are unacceptable – these tragedies all too often result from design decisions by vehicle, tire, and component manufacturers which put the public at risk.

Insurance

Why does it seem as if an insurance policy covers everything except what actually happened? Because the insurance companies wrote the policy, because what is urgent to you is just a claim to them, and because all too often they spent time and money at the legislature to limit their obligations long before they wrote the policy.

I do the work I do because of the challenge. None of the types of cases which we have described are easy. Most cases take a very long commitment of time, money, and technical support. I have been fortunate to form long-standing relations with exceptional people whose talents are brought to each case as appropriate. These include not only Dr. Kelly, who is an MD - JD, but also include attorney colleagues who are also pilots, safety engineers, and mechanical and civil engineers. I rely upon experts in each field as appropriate, including aviation crash reconstruction experts, drug-alcohol toxicologists, automotive engineers, construction safety engineers, physician and nurse experts who both practice their professions and serve as faculty in their medical and nursing schools.

Referrals

We gratefully accept referrals from attorneys who wish to refer a client, associate us on litigation, or consult us on a matter. Fee arrangements in referrals vary with each case. Customarily, in appropriate cases, referral fees are paid to lawyers strictly within the guidelines of the State Bar Rules and the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas.
